Introduction- Maithili Sharma

Posted by maithili sharma on

Hello, my name is Maithili Sharma. My preferred pronouns are (she/her)and my intended major for the next five years is Architecture.

After reviewing the syllabus for this semester, the one thing I’m most excited about is having a hybrid class! besides that, I guess I’m just really looking forward to making new friends from different cultural backgrounds and gaining different perspectives. I also love to write different kinds of autobiographies, so I’m looking forward to doing that too. Getting below C is probably my worst fear, and I’m worried that I might be too hard on myself and therefore get too anxious. I don’t know a lot about the syllabus, writing essays isn’t probably something that I’d find myself so good at. I’ve written a bunch of essays in high school, but they were for exam purposes. Therefore I’m unsure if I could do most of my work before the deadlines, but eventually, I know we all would ace it.

According to me, the best quality that an author should have is being innovative, and creative, they should keep the readers interested in what it is they’re writing about. they should have the readers think things like “oh? then what happened”, “why did he do that?!”, ” I’ll just read for 5 more minutes”. To maintain good writing, the author must have a really good vocabulary, using different adjectives to spice up certain stories and making them even juicier is something that every reader expects from them. having such qualities are important to maintain good writing skills.

The body of an essay is the easiest for me, I love to fanaticize various things, imagine myself in a different reality, I usually spend most of my time thinking from different perspectives, and it doesn’t always have to be people’s minds, sometimes it could be a bottle or a marker or my phone, its usually my phone. That’s something that I find myself being good at. The hardest part for me would probably be the introduction or maybe the conclusion, or I guess it’s both. I am looking forward to learning to write a smooth entry and exit in an essay, that’s something I’m gonna have to work on.

As a future architect, most of my writing work would be articles or thesis. I could imagine myself describing the interior of someone’s mansion in an article in the architectural digest. that’s always been my dream. besides that, there are various furniture pieces in magazines that usually have a short description of them in fancy words, which makes the buyer fall in love with them. Also, there may be times, where I might have to explain a certain house or a model to a client through words, and not the model itself, that’s where my writing skills would come. Hence, being an effective writer could help my career in many ways.

Thank you 🙂

Matthew Czarnecki – Introduction

Posted by MATTHEW CZARNECKI on

Hey, how’s it going? I’m Matthew Czarnecki (he) i’m have an intended major of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

After reviewing the syllabus, personally, I don’t really feel anxious or even excited about anything but just intrigued. For example, this is the first time someone asked for my gender pronouns; I went to a largely traditional and conservative public high school (Aviation Career & Technical High School). Additionally, the only source of nervousness I have is the length of the essays. Even though I took AP literature my senior year and I had to write and submit eight page essays in an hour as exams which I did… But I don’t remember how I managed to do so.

On the subject as to what makes a good writer; I believe that you must have knowledge and if possible relatable situations on the topic that you are writing. All points validating your point must be laid down coherently and in an orderly fashion and, what I sometimes struggle with myself, is the flow of your writing. It should be as if your directly having a formal conversation with the reader. In order achieve the title of a good author you must practice your own vocabulary and punctuation, but also be prepared to adapt and implement different styles depending on the writing assignment. It is important for one to nail down this ancient practice because as humans we are social creatures and we communicate with one another threw this form of language constantly, and if you avoid communicating with other human beings physically you still have to justify your one star rating with customer support and request for a full refund.

My best quality in writing is finding information and manipulating to fit my needs when writing argumentative essays. As well as, laying out my information in an order most friendly to the reader. My worst trait tends to be my amateurish vocabulary and the flow of my essays, one day it’ll be better, maybe even following the completion of this class.

In my intended major I would have to make use of persuasive, transactional and informatical writing styles in order to achieve my goals. Effective writing would help a lot because in this field clarity is most important, Especially, and hopefully, mult million dollar deals with commissions for myself. Additionally networking is very important, and especially now with everything being online how you are perceived depends highly on your writing skills.

Thank you all and I look forward to being a student as well as a fellow classmate.

Introduction Post- Anna Plotnick

Posted by Anna Plotnick (she/her/hers) on

Hi everyone, my name is Anna Plotnick, my preferred pronouns are she/her/hers and my intended major is political science.

After reading the syllabus, one thing that I am unsure about is adjusting to the lack of instruction with prompts for the essays this semester. I think that it will be a big change to have to create my own ideas and purpose to my writing rather than following what is given, but I am willing and eager to try. One thing that I am very excited for is to be able to do my own research which contradicts my last point. I believe that it is purposeful for my skills in writing and any career path I want that I am sufficient in skills to do my own work and research and I am excited to grow those skills.

In my opinion, qualities of good writing would be to have a meaningful message or purpose to the writing. This means that the writing develops as the story continues and goes along. In order for one to be a good writer, I think that it is important to practice, to take critiques and write using methods of syntax, fluency, and other literary devices to engage the reader. It is important to write well because it grows the writers skills in persuasion and communication, along with allowing the writer to connect to a topic that is important to themselves and others in a important form of expression.

I feel for myself that the easiest part of writing is to revise and edit. When I write, I usually write down all my thoughts for the prompt or topic because it is easier to narrow down the writing than to create something new with little basis. I do well when writing about something I am passionate about or that I can connect to. Something that I don’t do well when writing is keep my opinion out of all of my text. Even when a paper is supposed to be completely unbiased or neutral, I can still find a way to share my perspective. So I need to work on, writing from other perspectives to be able to grow my skills as a good writer.

In my intended major, I know that I will be doing a lot of global and domestic communication work. So I will be expected to write detailed papers overall about politics, but in my opinions of past, current and future policy works. I will be writing possible resolutions and proposals related to politics. Being an effective writer in this field is very important because I need to be able to demonstrate to people my opinion even if they don’t agree with the idea, and I need my writing to be effective with my own research and ideas.
